Frequently Asked Questions

  • I completely understand life can throw you curveballs! You can cancel your registration for any workshop and receive a refund with at least 72 hours notice.

Single Workshops at Cook Street Village Activity Centre

You can receive a full refund with at least 3 days (72 hours) notice before the workshops. Please email me directly at hello@monikadavies.com so I can promptly process your cancellation and refund.

Single or Multi-Week Workshops at Greenglade

These workshops are registered through Panorama, and so you’ll want to turn to Panorama’s refund policy.

As of January 2024, 3 days (72 hours) notice is required to receive a full refund/credit.

You can contact their reception team by email at info@panoramarec.bc.ca or by phone at 250-656-7271, extension 0, if you have any questions or concerns.

  • You’ll need a pen and a notepad or a digital device (eg. tablet, laptop) for writing. Don’t forget to add your enthusiasm and creativity to your bag, too!

  • All workshops are currently for writers who are 16 years or older. If you’re a younger writer, though, I highly recommend you check out Story Studio. They offer multiple programs to help empower budding writers.

  • Great question! (And great gift!) If you’d like to “gift” one of my single or multi-week workshops at Greenglade, you can purchase a gift card from Panorama’s reception team for the cost of the workshop.

Gift cards must be purchased through Panorama’s reception. The best way to reach them is usually by email: info@panoramarec.bc.ca

You can also call reception at 250-656-7271, extension 0, and leave them a voicemail with your request.

  • Absolutely! My Creative Jumpstarts workshop series changes every season and week. I never offer the same prompts or writing tools from workshop to workshop.

If you sign up for Creative Jumpstarts in the winter, and sign up for it again in the fall, you will have two very different experiences. I never repeat a Creative Jumpstart workshop—this keeps it joyful and fun for both you and me!

  • My workshops are great for both fiction and nonfiction writers! My goal is for you to leave my workshop with actionable and helpful creative inspiration, no matter your genre of choice.

However, one caveat: my Narrative Structure 101 workshop focuses on fictional narrative structure. If you’re a fan of writing memoir or memory papers, you’ll still find this workshop helpful. But if you write self-help instructions or academic texts, this workshop might not be the right fit for you.

  • Parking at Greenglade Community Centre

Yes! There is a huge parking lot and nearby street parking at Greenglade, all free of charge.

Parking at Cook Street Activity Centre

If you are driving to Cook Street Village, parking can be tricky here! You are more than welcome to park in the parking lot of Cook Street Village Activity Center; however, there are limited spaces.

If there are no available spaces in the lot, there is parking without restrictions on Hilda Street, Linden Avenue, and McKenzie Street. There are no restrictions for parking on Park Boulevard and in the parking lot for the Beacon Hill Tennis Courts on Saturdays, too.

Click here to view a map showing where you can park near Cook Street Village Activity Centre.

  • Thanks for asking! For now, I unfortunately only offer in-person writing workshops and do not provide editing services.

However, I would definitely recommend checking out Reedsy if you need an editor for your book. The website features many editors who can help you refine a narrative.

Firefly Creative Writing also offers book editing services and they’re a wonderful Canadian company. I’d recommend checking out their services, too. I hope these suggestions help!

  • Yes, I do! You can find out more here.

  • Thanks for asking! Put a plate of monster (or smartie) cookies in front of me, and I will devour them all. 🍪

  • I’d love to hear from you if you have any questions or feedback about my writing workshops! You can email me at hello@monikadavies.com.
